It all started with a simple idea - Energy Done Better.
Mike Weinstein and Brian O'Byrne were beverage industry veterans. Mike had been the CEO of Snapple Beverages and the President of A&W Brands and Brian was the CEO of Yoo-hoo/Orangina. One day they were comparing notes on why they wouldn't drink energy drinks and both had the same complaints - too harsh a taste, too syrupy, not very refreshing, too much sugar, too many jitters, too many scary ingredients...not to mention that they looked funny on skateboards with their hats cocked sideways. They figured there must be a way to do a better energy drink. So they set out on a quest to develop an energy drink for all the people who wanted great taste and refreshment but weren't too crazy for all the unhealthy crap.
Now doing a beverage start-up is hard work, very hard work. That's especially true if you're used to having other people do everything for you. But Mike and Brian persevered and in July of 2006, they launched HYDRIVE in New England with Polar Beverages and began a roll-out across the U.S. Their goal was simple, grow HYDRIVE to the point where they could hire lots of other people to do all the work, so they could return to their old jobs of sitting on their butts and doing nothing. They haven't quite gotten there yet... they're still filling out Fedex forms and packing boxes, but now they have other people helping too.
The HYDRIVE team would definitely be voted best-looking, smartest and most energetic in the industry if there was such a vote. Our cool crew includes Charly-Ann, Ro, Leo, Art, Colleen, Justin, Liz, Ernie, Conor, David, Mark, David (actually 2 Davids), Deb, Patrick, Bob, Mike (and Michael), Phil, and Lee. They make it happen every day.
We started selling HYDRIVE powder mix in April of 2012 and everyone is pretty excited about that (must be all that extra caffeine). Check it out and buy some on-line. When sales get large enough we plan to buy new couches for our Rye, New York office (we found the old ones in the hallway and grabbed them before the garbage man arrived) and several large company jets. Until then, we will continue to sell HYDRIVE to faithful consumers like you, one bottle (and pouch) at a time.
We wouldn't mind knowing a bit about you as well. You can just drop us a line by email or click here. Also, if you have a moment, we would like to hear your thoughts on HYDRIVE. And if you suck up enough or write great things on our Facebook page we might even send you something cool.
